With four dogs and two cats in attendance, the animals outnumbered the guests at this beautiful backyard wedding on June 7th, 2021. As a vet, Mel loved her animals deeply, but not as much as her husband Douglas. They met and fell in love when the world turned upside down in 2020. It was probably the most inopportune time, but love knows no bounds. So, in June of 2021, Arlington native, Mel, and Brazil native, Douglas, started their life together in the middle of a pandemic. There was no big venue, only a few of Mel's family, and a laptop allowing those in Brazil to join. They said "I do" at Michelle's childhood home in Virginia in the back yard under a beautifully landscaped pergola with twinkle lights.
